Overview

The new addition of Yamahas finest snare drums to the Recording Custom series implements Steve Gadds valuable input to its maximum. The superb consistency of these instruments allows drummers to fully utilize the sound functionality of their kit.

Snare Wire

These drums are equipped with 20-strand snare wire and bundled with Steve Gadd signature 10-strand snare wire. The snare wire that Steve prefers to use, this is a 14-strand snare wire with the middle four strands removed to enhance the cutoff of the sound and enable the artist to produce a crisper staccato tone.

Center Bead

Unlike Yamahas previous snare drums which have traditionally had the metal center bead on the interior of the drum, these instruments fix the center bead to the outside of the drum. This produces a more open sound than our conventional drums for crisp, articulate performance.

Q Type Strainer

The heavy-duty Q-type strainer is robust whilst offering solid, stable and smooth operation, along with adjustment and snare replacement.
